In a significant boost to bilateral trade relations between China and South Africa, Henan ZongXiang Heavy Industry Import & Export Co., Ltd., commonly known as ZongXiang, has successfully exported a substantial batch of premium steel plates to South Africa. This shipment, completed in late 2025, underscores ZongXiang's growing presence in the African market and highlights the company's expertise in delivering reliable steel products for infrastructure and industrial applications.
ZongXiang, established as a subsidiary of Zhongxiang Steel Group since 1997, specializes in a wide range of steel products, including heavy rails, crane rails, railway fasteners, mining support materials, and general steel items such as plates, beams, and channels. With advanced manufacturing facilities in Henan Province and a production license from China's Railway Ministry, the company ensures strict quality control through high-precision inspection tools. Their products are designed to meet international standards, making them suitable for demanding environments like railways, mining, and construction.
The exported batch consists of mild carbon steel plates, ideal for shipbuilding, structural fabrication, and heavy machinery. These plates are known for their durability, corrosion resistance, and high tensile strength, qualities that align perfectly with South Africa's booming infrastructure sector. The country has been investing heavily in ports, railways, mining operations, and renewable energy projects, driving demand for imported steel amid local supply shortages.

This export follows ZongXiang's established track record in South Africa, where the company has previously supplied railway materials like A75 crane rails to support local factories and infrastructure upgrades. South Africa remains a key destination for Chinese steel, with imports of iron and steel articles reaching hundreds of millions annually. ZongXiang's contributions help address material shortages caused by aging infrastructure and limited domestic capacity.
The shipment process involved meticulous preparation: plates were carefully inspected, packaged for sea transport, and loaded at a major Chinese port like Tianjin. Upon arrival at South African ports such as Durban or Port Elizabeth, the cargo will support various projects, potentially enhancing efficiency in mining and transportation sectors.
This deal not only strengthens economic ties but also demonstrates ZongXiang's commitment to global expansion. With exports to over a dozen countries including the USA, Europe, and Asia, the company continues to invest in R&D for innovative, high-quality steel solutions. As South Africa's economy recovers and infrastructure demands rise, partnerships like this are poised to play a pivotal role in mutual growth.
